The operation took place from the
QTH of Juergen
SV0IE/DL2YAG near Kalamata
in the heart of the Messinian Gulf. I used my portable rig
FT897 and the Juergen´s TH7.
A total of about 1100 qsos were made of which about 950 was in
the contest with 166532 points.
Thanks to Juergen and his XYL Valery for a great time
in their Greek house. |

15m SOSB Low Power #4 SA and #9 WW |
Operated from CX2AQ Ron´s QTH in
Montevideo. Very low noise and close to the water everything
looked good before the contest. In the contest though, it is
very hard to get out with 100w into NA and EU when they are
beaming each other and you are trying to get in from the side.
Made 1267 qsos in the contest but since almost everyone is a
3-pointer the score builds up a lot easier than from SM! |

Operated from San Miguel
Island as a guest operator at Ana CU2YK.
Worked about 500
stations on different bands on Thursday afternoon
and Friday
warming up for the CQWW CW Contest.
Contest call was CU2F on 20m Low Power.
Enjoyed the big pileups of beeing a good European multiplier for many.
Final score 781600 with 2426 qsos in 123 countries and 37 zones

Operation from Henry TI2HMG´s
hotel outside San Jose was between Oct. 24 and Nov. 4 2001.
Used my own IC751A and Henry´s 2 el 5-band QUAD which was
really doing a good job. 7259 contacts all together including
the contest.
Contest was on 15m Low Power and final score 1.100.480
points with 2979 qsos in 127 countries and 33 zones. This was
good for WW nr 2 after TA3D.

Very nice convention, and interesting to meet all the famous
dx operators from
South East Asia. Arrived at the island a
couple of days before the convention to
relax. The weather was
terrible and I have never ever before experienced so
much rain! However during the convention weekend it was
much better.

I had never
worked a ZB2 on RTTY since I started on that mode in -91 so it
had to
be quite rare! Operated for a couple of days from
Caleta Hotel like many other
operations. Very ham friendly hotel, they gave all kind of
support to get antennas
up on the roof. It is very hard to do
contesting from ZB as you always have a wall
that block your
signals, no matter what side of the rock you are. The score
was not
too good but enjoyed the big piles on CW before the contest.

Very
interesting trip to this exotic Island in Melanesia. Stayed in
a bungalow on Erakor island and operated with the Butternut vertical on the
beach with the radials laying in the salt water. Great fun
before and after the contest with 100 watts, but found it very
hard in the Contest qrm on Phone.
2270 qsos in the contest which I think was a WW nr 6.
